At times like these, your children may be experiencing some emotions that they haven’t fully felt before.  The time you have in the home together could be fraught with outbursts but, at Fegans we see this as an opportunity for you to help your youngsters deal with their feelings and learn to communicate them to others.

Describing children’s feelings is a powerful way to strengthen their emotional knowledge. When children have emotion language, they will be able to better regulate their own emotions because they can tell you how they feel. We have created this list of emotions that can be commented on when playing with a child, you can use this checklist to practice describing your child’s emotions.

During uncertain times and when things are changing around us it is more important than ever to equip our children with the tools they need to express themselves clearly.  This will in turn lead to better communication for the whole family and a happier atmosphere for all.
