Sally Phillips to Host Virtual Family Quiz for Local Charity

Actress and writer Sally Phillips is to host a virtual family quiz to raise money for local charity Fegans which supports vulnerable children in the community. Taking place on Zoom between 3.30-4.30pm on Saturday 27th February, the event is suitable for all ages, from toddlers to grandparents.

Fegans’ ambassador Sally Phillips – famous for her roles in Bridget Jones, Smack the Pony and Miranda – will host six themed rounds, while multi-award-winning professional magician Adam Smith will provide the half-time entertainment. Adam is a member of the Magic Circle and his close-up card and sleight of hand performances earned him the title of Best Entertainer in the South East 2020.

The entry fee is £10 per team which enables up to three different households to dial in, so participants can team up with relatives and friends anywhere in the world for an hour of family fun.

All the money raised will go directly to Fegans to enable the 150-year-old charity to continue providing much-needed children’s counselling and parent support services across the South East. In the midst of a growing children’s mental health crisis further impacted by the pandemic, the charity is doing everything it can to reduce its waiting lists and support desperate families. However, with its traditional fundraising events cancelled due to lock-down restrictions, it faces a real funding challenge.

Fegans CEO Ian Soars hopes the event will bring joy to lots of families who have been struggling in lock-down: “The past 10 months have been an incredibly stressful and often isolating time for families. But it has made us all aware of is how important our connections with others are for our wellbeing. We have created this event to make the most of the connections that we can still have online, bringing family members of all ages together for an hour of love and laughter.

“Every person who signs up for the event will also be raising vital funds to enable our team of amazing counsellors and parent support workers to continue supporting the most vulnerable children and families in our community.”
