Sally Phillips has taken on the role of Fegans’ Ambassador
Fegans is delighted that Sally Phillips has become a Fegans’ Ambassador.
Award winning writer and actor Sally Phillips is known for her roles in I’m Alan Partridge, Smack the Pony, Green Wing and Miranda. She is also Clare in Radio 4’s Clare in the Community, Shazzer’ in the Bridget Jones trilogy and Minna Hakkinen, former Finnish PM in Veep. In 2016 Sally made the multi-award winning documentary ‘World Without Downs’, an introduction to the ethical questions around prenatal screens.
Speaking at the recent Fegans’ event at the Royal Automobile Club on Pall Mall, Sally highlighted the acute mental health needs of children and young people today:
“This is so desperately needed. Our children are not coping.”
“You can’t get an appointment at CAMHS. I’ve been waiting two years now.”
Since 1870, we have been dedicated to creating a world where children are free to be all they are created to be. Today we provide counselling for around 400 children every week, bringing freedom to children facing severe bullying, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, anxiety, depression and self harm. Despite doubling in size in the last six years and seeing more children year-on-year, our waiting lists never go down, and demand for our services is greater than ever before.
Sally was introduced to Fegans at a parenting talk:
“I’ve been to Fegans talks about separation – they are absolutely fantastic.”
“Their parenting advice has been a great support to me. And that is hard to find because when you have a child with special educational needs, parenting courses can feel incredibly judgemental.”
